Let’s celebrate the festival of lights Diwali but a little responsibly. Let’s all burst out together in laughter instead of bursting fire crackers which contribute to noise as well as environmental pollution. Let’s decorate our homes, schools, colleges, hospitals and workplaces with beautiful rangolis made with organic colours and flowers only, let’s buy diyas and other decorative items from local shops and footpath sellers in order to put a smile on their face on the festival of lights. How about decorating with lanterns made of paper and earthen diyas instead of plastic lanterns?
We all can, can’t we? If children show us the way, can’t we adults follow? Ahead of Diwali, children from schools across India are making posters with eco-friendly slogans and walking in rallies to remind us all of our responsibility towards the environment while celebrating the festival of lights.
